I think you actually may be restating some of my points! The rights we confer on entities are related just to how humans feel about them.
So a scary animal in fact does have reduced rights: we can still kill man-eating tigers at will.
Endangered species have more protections—because we think biodiversity is precious, nowadays.
But it all really comes down to what humans practically feel, rather than the internal experience of these creatures we protect and/or kill.
